Dutoprol, Kapspargo, Lopressidone, Lopressor, Toprol-xl (metoprolol) is a small molecule pharmaceutical. Metoprolol was first approved as Lopressor on 1982-01-01. It is used to treat angina pectoris, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, heart failure, and hypertension amongst others in the USA. The pharmaceutical is active against beta-1 adrenergic receptor. In addition, it is known to target beta-2 adrenergic receptor.

Metoprolol is a propanolamine that is 1-(propan-2-ylamino)propan-2-ol substituted by a 4-(2-methoxyethyl)phenoxy group at position 1. It has a role as a beta-adrenergic antagonist, an antihypertensive agent, a xenobiotic, an environmental contaminant and a geroprotector. It is a propanolamine, an aromatic ether, a secondary alcohol and a secondary amino compound.
